The ACA is joining forces with Grok Learning to form a new organisation Grok Academy. This new organisation will be your one stop shop for all your digital technologies needs. For more information go to grokacademy.org
Learn how emojis work and how data can help you do your laundry! Data representation is everywhere and is the ideal starting point for teaching Digital Technologies curriculum.
During this webinar Kenni Bawden and James Curran from the ACA will discuss data representation. You'll learn how data is used to communicate, store and calculate information all the way from the first years of school until year 10. We will be sharing resources (like DT Laundry and the emoji challenge) and participating in activities (such as run-length encoding and pig-dog) that will help you teach your students about data representation in the classroom and remotely.
Who Should Attend?
ACA Webinars
For the past 3 years, the Australian Computing Academy has been providing comprehensive professional development for teachers, supporting the implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies. We are pleased to be able to continue this work in a modified online mode whilst we are facing current social distancing requirements.
Over 7 hour-long webinars, we will provide an overview of the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and explore some of the key concepts of the curriculum - Data Representation, Digital Systems, Specification and Computational Thinking, and Algorithms. We will also take a look at assessment and Cyber Security.
You may attend one or all of the seminars, it is up to you! If you have been unable to attend one of our PD workshops in person this is a good opportunity to take part. It is also a great chance for a refresher on the curriculum if you have already attended one of our in-person workshops.
Is there a cost?
No.
